Flat piercing
A flat piercing sits on the flat plane of cartilage between the helix rim and the inner ear. It heals in around 6-12 months and holds a larger stone beautifully, in 14k recycled gold. Pierced and styled in the Stockholm studio.

What it is
The Flat placement
The flat is the broad, level plane of cartilage inside the helix rim, at the top of the ear. Because the surface is flat and stable, it carries a larger or more decorative stone than the rim can, which makes it the natural home for a statement labret in a curated ear.
Healing & aftercare
How it heals
Around 6-12 months. It is thicker cartilage, so leave the first labret in and clean with saline twice daily. Avoid sleeping on that side.
For the full ritual, see our Ear Spa & aftercare guide.

Build your ENNUI Ear
This is where a stack earns its centrepiece. One larger stone here, and finer pieces along the rim beside it.

FAQ
Flat piercing, common questions
Does a flat piercing hurt?
A firm pinch through thicker cartilage, over quickly.
What jewelry suits a flat piercing?
A flat-back labret, and it can carry a larger stone than the helix.
Can I have two flats?
Yes, the plane is wide enough for a pair placed with even spacing.
How long before I can change it?
Around 6-12 months. Changing it early risks irritation.
