Piercing aftercare

Wash your hands. Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching or cleaning your piercing, so you do not introduce bacteria to the site.

Clean daily. Use sterile saline solution to rinse the piercing gently. Avoid alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and harsh soaps, as they irritate and dry out the skin.

Spray or apply the saline directly to the piercing. For areas that are hard to reach, soak sterile gauze in the solution and hold it against the piercing for a few minutes.

Do not twist the jewelry. It irritates the tissue and slows healing.

Pat the area dry with disposable gauze or a lint-free paper towel. Avoid cloth towels, which harbour bacteria and snag on jewelry.

Hands off. Handle the jewelry as little as possible while it heals.

Avoid contamination. Keep the piercing away from dirty surfaces, cosmetics and harsh chemicals such as hair products and swimming pool water.

Sleeping safely. Use a clean pillowcase, and keep pressure off a new piercing.

Normal healing signs. Mild swelling, redness or tenderness in the first weeks is common. A small amount of clear or pale yellow fluid is part of the healing process.

When to contact us. Please reach out to ENNUI Atelier straight away if you notice persistent redness, heat or swelling beyond a few days; excessive pain, throbbing or a sensation of tightness; discharge with an unpleasant odour; or jewelry that feels embedded or difficult to move freely.

Lobe, 3 to 6 months. The soft tissue of the earlobe heals faster than cartilage, but it still needs the full three to six months to settle. Keep the jewelry in and avoid pressure on the piercing, such as sleeping on it.

Helix, upper ear cartilage, 6 to 12 months. Cartilage heals slower than soft tissue because it has less blood supply. Swelling may persist in the first few weeks, and bumps may appear if it is irritated.

Forward helix, 6 to 12 months. Healing requires consistent aftercare and avoiding trauma, such as catching the jewelry on hair or clothing.

Tragus, 6 to 12 months. This piercing sits near the ear canal and is prone to irritation from headphones and earbuds. Avoid prolonged contact with them.

Conch, 6 to 12 months. Inner cartilage piercings take time to heal. Avoid pressure and follow the cleaning routine carefully.

Daith, 6 to 12 months. Positioned inside the ear cartilage, this piercing needs extra care to avoid irritation. Be gentle when cleaning.

Rook, 6 to 12 months. Located in the cartilage fold above the daith, the rook requires patience and a snug-fitting piece of jewelry to avoid irritation.

We offer unlimited complimentary check-ups and downsizing within three to six weeks of your procedure. This ensures your piercing heals properly and minimises the risk of complications.

Clients are encouraged to contact the studio immediately if they experience irritation, swelling or other concerns.

Please note. If you decline scheduled aftercare appointments, or choose to seek aftercare advice from another studio first, we may not be able to assist with troubleshooting or provide follow-up services. Our policies are in place to ensure the highest quality of care, and to keep consistency with the products and techniques used during your initial piercing.

Studio etiquette. Respectful behaviour toward staff and other clients is mandatory. Follow the instructions of the piercer during the procedure. Pets, food and drinks are not allowed in the piercing area.

Jewelry. Only high-quality, internally threaded or threadless jewelry is used. Outside jewelry is not permitted for initial piercings, to ensure sterility and quality.

Cancellation and refunds. Deposits are non-refundable, but may be transferred to a rescheduled appointment if changes are made at least twenty-four hours in advance. Refunds are not provided for completed services, but troubleshooting assistance is available.

Post-piercing assistance. Free check-ups and downsizing are offered within three to six weeks of the procedure. Clients are encouraged to contact the studio immediately for signs of complications such as redness, swelling or irritation.

Hygiene and safety compliance. The studio complies with all local health regulations. Equipment is single-use or sterilised in an autoclave, and all staff are certified in bloodborne pathogen training.
